Overview

Physical Education at Mercia Northridge School focuses on students learning skills, techniques and the rules and regulations of different sports. Healthy competition is promoted through performance and game play where pupils are also encouraged to; be considerate to each other, abide by the rules of each sport, demonstrate fair play, respect and sportsmanship as well as recognise where support can be given to others.

There is a focus every lesson that students are physically active for sustained periods of time and learn through active participation.

Our curriculum aims to develop pupils’ confidence and generic skills of collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking and aesthetic appreciation. These together, with positive values and attitudes, high expectations, and routines for learning provide solid foundations for pupils’ lifelong learning. Through our curriculum we strive to inspire all our students to lead healthy, active lives.

Pupils are encouraged to be ambitious and show dedication to sport by attending regular after school clubs alongside competing in fixtures and competitions against other schools.
